Fashion Friday: Reconnect with Your Inner Barbie

March 26, 2010

Looking like Barbie may not necessarily be the best business attire choice, but give her a chic 1960s look and it’s definitely work appropriate. Joining the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce team, Barbie and Ken will be styled like characters from the award-winning Mad Men television series.

The winner of nine Emmy Awards and five Golden Globes, Mad Men is an insightful drama about advertising in the 1960s and the role of men and women during those go-go times. The dolls are planned to be available in July, prior to the anticipated start of the fourth season.

According to the New York Times, the dolls are part of “a premium-price collectors’ series for adults that Mattel calls the Barbie Fashion Model Collection.” Each doll in the collection is expected to retail for about $75.

The characters to become dolls, according to the article, are Don Draper; his wife, Betty; his colleague at the Sterling Cooper agency, Roger Sterling; and Joan Holloway, the office manager.
